As wellness programs become the norm in many organizations, new and interesting ideas on how to support corporate wellness continue to emerge. We’ve heard of lunchtime walking clubs, flu clinics and fitness challenges, but have you heard of companies installing onsite health kiosks?
The idea is to provide interested employees with a proactive means to measure and track vital statistics like HeartRate, BMI, Weight, Body Fat Percentage, Blood Pressure and Blood Oxygen. Tracking these measures can be one element of a comprehensive wellness program. For example, an organization might organize a “biggest loser” type weight loss challenge in the workplace, which can be supported by a health kiosk.
One well known provider of such kiosks is Life Clinic Canada. Life Clinic Canada offers internet-connected health kiosks called Health Chek Stations. Organizations can lease these units for months or years, allowing employees to regularly monitor their vital statistics. Users can log onto the Life Clinic website to access a record of past data, and use the data to tailor exercise or fitness programs to target specific statistics.
The idea is an interesting one, and it could very well be an effective addition to a corporate wellness program.
