Don’t Sit This One Out

Sed-en-tar-y [sed-n-ter-ee]  1. Characterized by or requiring a sitting posture: a sedentary occupation.

According to yet another article in the news, sedentary behaviour is killing us. The average person now spends 9.3 hours per day sitting – that’s nearly 40% of the day!

Mounting research in this field shows that those who sit for 6 hours or more each day are 40% more likely to die within 15 years compared to those who sit for less than 3 hours per day. If these stats describe you – then it’s time to get moving. The studies are piling up and researchers have found that even if you meet Canada’s recommended guidelines for physical activity, if you spend your day sedentary, your health is going to suffer for it.

  1. One of the things that has greatly improved my posture was one of those kneel down chairs. You can pick them up from Staples for around $100. I love mine, and highly recommend it.
